Blob Mod is a simplistic metaball modifier. Basically at every vertex of a mesh it will place a metaball.

1.2 adds the ability to use other objects such as particles to add to the blob surface. Just use the add button to add more objects to the blob surface and the remove to remove them.

Size is the size of each metaball

Tension is how relaxed or tight the surface will be. A smaller value will make a tighter surface.

Render Courseness - courseness/desnity of the mesh at render time
View Courseness - courseness/desnity of the mesh in the viewport

Relative Courseness - this determines how the courseness values will be used. If this field is unchecked the courseness values are absolute where each face size of the mesh is equal to the curseness value. So the smaller the courseness the smoother the surface. If this field is checked the courseness is based on the ratio of the size to courseness. So the size of the faces will change with the size of the blobs. In this case the larger the value the more smooth the surface.
